EDWARDS, PORTER, ROBINSON, TARWATER posted by Jennifer Kerr on Tuesday, December 2, 2003

I am looking for a relative who may be in possession of the family bible of the TARWATER's. That being Lewis and Polly TARWATER. Emaline TARWATER, a daughter of Lewis, had the bible, she then married William H. EDWARDS, they had a child, William Henry EDWARDS. William Henry EDWARDS married Mary PORTER on 18 January 1874 in Ray County, MO. They had seven children. Per the 1900 census they lived in Orrick, MO. Some of the children died, but I am thinking that maybe one of their children, George EDWARDS who married Amy ROBINSON on 15 October 1899, may have the bible, or their children. If this sounds familiar, please contact me. Thank you.

BARSHER, BRASHEAR, BRASHER posted by Dee Stone on Tuesday, December 2, 2003

Thank you for including the BRASHER cemetery in your listing. I am a descendant of Lucy BRASHER and recently visited the cememtery. I am happy to see it is good condition! I have a few corrections to the listing on the web site that I hope will be helpful. The name is BRASHER (occasionally was misspelled as BRASHEAR, but not BARSHER.) The cemetery is more correctly described as follows: "Located 1/8 mile North of Route T on EE (South Point Drive) north of South Point Cemetery."

STRATTON posted by Cynthia A. Stratton on Thursday, December 4, 2003

I am just beginning my search into my family’s history. There is a biography of a Daniel H. STRATTON on p. 737 of the History of Ray County 1881. I believe that this is one of the brothers of my great-grandfather, Frank S. STRATTON (b. 11/18/1878). I am interested in additional information on this person.

ODELL, ROW, ROWE, TURNER posted by Twylia O'Dell Brand on Thursday, December 11, 2003

I'm seeking information on Simon ODELL / O'DELL who was Rev. War Soldier from Dunmore Co. VA. His wife's name was Mary TURNER. They came to Ray County with about 45 of their family from Cocke County TN. Some people think they moved to Hunt County TX. I'm trying to determine if this is true. I believe I would be down there looking up here for information if that had been the case. But our family has lived in the Ray/Lafayette/Jackson Counties for years. My great Great Grandfather was their son Job Edward O'DELL born 4 Oct. 1807 Cocke Co. TN and married 12 Feb. 1829 in Ray County, MO to Elizabeth ROW (ROWE). From the Census of Hunt Co. TX the Job listed there does not have this birth time.

SWAFFORD, SWOFFORD posted by Mike McKinley on Thursday, January 1, 2004

I am the grandson of Roberta SWAFFORD who, according to my mother's birth certificate, was born in Ray Co., MO in 1890. I called the county earlier this year and they told me that the records for anyone born there earlier than 1910, were lost in a fire in that year. Is there any other source that you know of that can help me find the genealogy of Roberta SWAFFORD (could have been SWOFFORD) born in 1890? If it helps, I have been told that her mother may have been Native American Cherokee. Please let me know one way or the other.
