I am interested in any information on Joseph and Melvina (UNDERWOOD) COOK. They were in the Ray County Missouri census of 1850. They came to Ray County from North Carolina probably in the early 1840's. Children were Lemuel born 1846 in Missouri married Georetta Glass WILSON; Martha born about 1841 married Abraham KING; Emily born ca. 1833; Eli born 1836; James born ca. 1838; Samuel born ca. 1843; Mary born ca. 1845 married MCKOWN; Joe Clay born ca.1848; Sarah born ca. 1850 married William PRYOR; Dr. T.B. COOK and Green COOK. Lemuel died 1917 in Rayville, Missouri. Joseph and Melvina were married in 1830 in Orange, North Carolina. Karen Jarvis @ kdsi.net

Looking for information on Ernst or Ernest J. STEUDTE (also spelled STEDUE, STAIDA, STIDA, STIDEY ) He came from Germany in 1854 and setteld in Indiana. He later lived and died in Richmond. Greetings, I am working on the GILBOW family in Ray County. Currently I am stuck on finding information about my great great grandfather, John P. GILBOW (GILBO) (GILLBOW) He is listed on the 1850 census, Grape Grove Township. He was born in "French Canada" what ever that means. He was a farmer and owned land in Ray County. I'm trying to find information on John M. TAYLOR. He married Louisa MCDONALD in Ray County on December 20, 1835. The 1830 Census of Ray County listed 3 TAYLOR families living there at that time. John was born sometime in the early 1800's (1803-1810), place unknown.

I am a direct descendant of Benjamin CLEVENGER b. February 10, 1812 in Cocke Co. Tenn. He arrived in Ray Co, MO in 1848. Died June 10, 1854 in Ray Co, MO. Possibly a son of Elias CLEVENGER of Cocke Co, Tenn. I would like to know if anyone has proven or disproven this. I would also be glad to correspond and share information with others.

I am looking for any information on William Eli CAMPER. 1. William Eli CAMPER was born Abt. September 19, 1866 in Morristown, TN (?), and died Abt. 1947 in St. Joseph, MO at the State Mental Hospital. He is said to be buried in Richmond, MO at the Sunnyslope Cemetery in an unmarked grave. He married (1) Maggie M. (unknown) Abt. 1891. He married (2) Lillie Anne HAWKINS Bef. 1924 in Richmond, MO. William Eli and James Harris are both listed as coal miners on the 1910 Census for Richmond Twp, Ray County, Missouri, Sheet No. 7B William Eli and Maggie had 1 child, James Harris CAMPER b. 1894 in Tennessee. James Harris died November 26, 1934; and is buried in Richmond, MO at the Sunnyslope Cemetery. He was married to Jean, and they had no children. William Eli and Lillie Anne had an infant son, W. E. CAMPER died March 26, 1924 that is also buried at Sunnyslope Cemetery in Richmond, MO. There is said to be another infant buried at the Sunnyslope Cemetery.

I am looking for any information on Lincoln Randolph WOOD who married Martha Florence KIRK. Their son Forrest WOOD born 8/15/1890 and died 1/13/1946 is my gr grandfather. Have a note in a family bible saying either my great-great-grandmother or my great-great-great-grandmother was raised by her mother since her father was shot by a sheriff. I'm mainly having trouble finding HYDER women who married in the mid 1800s in Ray County. As an example, Catherine HYDER b. 1843, Cynthia HYDER b. 1849, Elizabeth HYDER b. 1838, Elizabeth Jane HYDER b. 7 19 1860, Lorina HYDER b. 1848, Lorina Ann HYDER b. 1852, etc. I'm also searching for male Hyders such as James, Jacob, Pleasant Allen, Warren, William. I'd appreciate any information and I'm also willing to share what information I already have.

My great grandmother, Martha (Messer) WARREN died in the Ray County area in the early 1880's. She was born in Knox County, Kentucky and came to the area with her husband Cornelius T. WARREN and their big family of children. We would like to find Martha's gravesite. After her death her husband and children returned to Kentucky except for their daughter Mary Ann, who married Huston ALLEN. Martha had a sister and brother in law, Dicey (Messer) and Anthony MILLS who lived and buried family in Orrick, Ray Co. Missouri. Two cemetaries listed are Union Cemetary and Riffe Cemetary. Any information about any of theses people and their descendants would be greatly appreciated. My grandmother lost track of any of them right after WW2.

Nellie Jane MCGREW POINTER disappeared from her family c. 1900. Her sons, Leon and Guy, are found with their grandmother Artimissa POINTER in Livingston Co. MO on the1900 census. A letter found among Nellie's effects when she died, indicated that she was still in Richmond, Ray Co. MO in 1902 and was married to John DENNY and had a small child. Seeking information regarding her marriage to John DENNY and her census record in 1900 (she could be listed as DENNY, MCGREW or POINTER). Nellie & John DENNY moved c. 1902 to Oklahoma and by 1920 were settled in San Antonio TX where she remained until her death in 1963. Would like to correspond with anyone who has connections to the Isaac MCGREW family of Ray/Lafayette Co. MO.
