Other Comments | Information from the caretaker of Little Union Cemetery:
The farm she lives on has been in the family since at least 1908 because her dad was born there. Down on the south end of the farm near Mud Creek was a small cemetery. Her brothers mainly remember most the name of Mayberry being there and that is why she refers to it as the Mayberry Cemetery. Possibly 16-20 stones. We think it was a pioneer cemetery as the dates (as remembered) were around 1816 and 1826. Her older brother spent a lot of time sinking long poles into the ground trying to locate the stones that were buried but with no success. |
