Rives, Benjamin A., Colonel, 3rd Missouri Inf. Vol., killed at the Battle of Pea Ridge, March 8, 1862

Brown, Benjamin, Colonel, inspector of the 4th Division of the "Missouri State Guard" killed at Wilson’s Creek, Missouri, August 10, 1861.

Hubbell, Finley L., Capt. (afterwards promoted to lieutenant-colonel), 3rd Missouri Inf. Vol., wounded in the battle of Champion Hill, May 16, 1863, died from wounds at Coffeeville, Mississippi.

McDowell, Kelsey, Capt. (promoted to lieutenant-colonel a short time before he was killed), 3rd Missouri Inf. Vol., killed at Atlanta, Ga., July 22, 1864.

Parker, William C., Major, Co. D, 1st Missouri Cavalry Vol. (Col. Gates’ regiment), killed at the Battle of Franklin, Tn., November 30, 1864

Early, Dick (Capt.), brother of Gen. Jubal Early, wounded at the Battle of Wilson’s Creek, August 10, 1861, and died from such wounds at Springfield, MO in the fall of 1861.

Conrow, Aaron H., Col., killed after the close of the war, in the year 1865, in Mexico, by some of Juarez’s guerillas. He was a member of the Confederate congress, and represented the Fourth district of Missouri, from the commencement of the war to its close.

Bohannon, Louis C., Colonel, General Prices army (state service) and under Gen. Holmes’ command, CSA. Enlisted 6/1/1861 and discharged 7/1865 Little Rock. Battles: Carthage, Oak Hill, Lexington, Elk Horn, Independence, Lone Jack, Council Grove, Helena, and other engagements West Point being the last. At the battle of Lone Jack he was wounded in the wrist and right shoulder. The ball entered the right and came out the left shoulder. He was never taken prisoner.

Williams, Robert J., Capt., Co. A, Missouri Volunteers (state service), enlisted 12/1861; went into Confederate service after that. He was sworn into State service, at Richmond, MO, Col. Reeves’ regiment, 3rd Missouri Inf. Volunteers. At Springfield, MO, his company went into Confederate service, for 12 mos., and on expiration of this term, they were sworn in for a term of 3 years at Camp Rogers, Mississippi. His was the first company that made enlistment for duration of the war. He was promoted to the rank of Major, after being in the service a short time. The 3rd was consolidated with the 5th and commanded by Col. James McCown, of Warrensburg, MO. He was in every battle in which his command was engaged except one. He was in Vicksburg forty-eight days and nights. He went into Vicksburg with over 40 men, and came out with 15 fit for duty after the surrender. He still has the old mule that he had in the siege of Vicksburg. He was wounded, through his hip, in the battle of Allatoona, GA, and suffered intensely for weeks. He commanded a regiment after he was wounded, when he could not get on his horse without help. He was discharged from service 5/13/1865.

Craven, J.T., second sergeant, Co. H, Jack Patten’s Co., Elijah Gates’ regiment, Gen. Cockrell’s brigade. He enlisted 9/6/1861, at Howard’s Mill, in Nodaway county, MO and was discharged at the close of the war. He was in the battles of Blue Mills, Lexington, and Pea Ridge. His command was then transferred to East Mississippi, and he was afterward engaged in the battles of Farmington, Corinth, Iuka, second Corinth, Grand Gulf, Bogler’s Creek, Black River Bridge, Vicksburg, Rome, Georgia, Kenesaw Mountain, and Peach-tree Creek. He was wounded at the second battle of Corinth, and subsequently at Peach-tree Creek. The last wound was through the wrist and greatly disabled him. He was taken prisoner at the Vicksburg surrender, held about 7 mos., and exchanged.

Boon, William S., 5th sergeant under Gen. Little’s command. Enlisted Dec 7, 1861 and discharged 5/1865. Battles: Pea Ridge, Farmington, Iuka, Corinth, Fort Gibson, Bogler’s Creek, Big Black River Bridge, and Vicksburg. Wounded in the right arm at Vicksburg, 5/22/1863. Wounded at the battle of Kenesaw Mountain, in his left arm, causing loss of said arm, 6/20/1864. Taken prisoner 7/4/1863, at Vicksburg. Received other slight wounds as well.

Aken, James M., private, Co A, commanded by Capt. Robert J. Williams, Col. B. A. Rives’ regiment, 3rd Missouri Inf. Enlisted 11/1863 and discharged 3/1864. He was in the battles of Wilson’s Creek, Boston Mountain, and Cross Hollow.

Moffitt, John H., private, Colonel Slayback’s regiment, Missouri Volunteers, Gen. Sterling Price’s comand. Enlisted in Nodaway County in 1861. He was in the battles of Blue Mills and Lexington. He was stricken with the measles in 1862 and discharged the same year.

Duval, William, 1st lieut, Co. C (Capt McDowell’s co.), Col. A. B. Rives’ regiment, 3rd Missouri Inf. Vol., the same co. his two brothers (Henderson & Thomas) served in. He enlisted on or about 12/10/1861 and was in all the battles his regiment engaged in up unto his death. He was killed at Corinth 10/3/1862.

Duval, Henderson, private, Capt. Kelsy McDowell’s Co. C, 3rd regiment, Missouri Inf. Commanded by Co.

B.A. Rives. He enlisted in it at the time of its organization in 1861, and was in all the principal battles up unto the time of his death in the battle of Baker’s Creek, Mississippi, 5/16/1863.

Duval, Thomas, private, Capt. Kelsy McDowell’s Co. C, 3rd regiment, Missouri Inf. Commanded by Co. B.A. Rives. He enlisted in it at the time of its organization in 1861, and was in all the principal battles up unto the time of his death in the battle of Baker’s Creek, Mississippi, 5/16/1863.

Trigg, H. S., sergeant, Col. Sterling Price’s command, Gen. Slack’s Division. He enlisted in 1861. Battles: Carthage, Wilson’s Creek, Lexington. Taken prisoner at Wilson’s Creek but escaped. Took sick at Lexington and couldn’t go south with his command after the battle.

Hall, James, private, Co. C, Shank’s regiment from Jackson Co., MO, under Gen. Shelby. Co. C was commanded by Capt. Franklin. He enlisted Oct. 16, 1864 and discharged March 28, 1865. He fought at Westport, Fort Scott, and Newtonia. He was left on the road once sick but never wounded nor taken prisoner.

Cowsert, Robert T., private, Co. C, 3rd Missouri Inf. He enlisted Dec 10, 1861 and died in the service Feb. 4, 1862.

Titus, J. H., sergeant, Gen. Price’s command. He enlisted in Sept. 1864 (NOT A TYPO) and was discharged May, 1865. He was in the battles of Lexington, Pea Ridge, Corinth Farmington, Iuka, second battle of Corinth, and Grand Gulf. He was wounded in the battle of Grand Gulf, April 29, 1863. He was taken prisoner at Port Gibson, May 2, 1863, while in hospital and paroled. Then rejoined his command at Demopolis, Alabama, and remained there the most of the fall of 1863. In the spring of 1864 he was detailed to do duty in the commissary dept, and remained there until the end of the war.

Palmer, C. N., surgeon, Gen. Price’s command. Enlisted in 1861 and resigned in 1863. He was in the battles of Wilson’s Creek, Lexington, Pea Ridge, Shiloh, Seven Pines, Chickahominie, seven days’ battles near Richmond, Va. He was taken prisoner several times during the time he was in service but released at once.

Graham, Fletcher, private, Co. C, 2nd regiment Missouri Inf., commanded by Col. Benjamin A. Rives. Co. C was commanded by Capt. Kelsey McDowell. He enlisted at Springfield, MO, in 1861 and was discharged at Van Buren, Arkansas, June 1862. He was in the battle of Pea Ridge and Elk Horn. He was wounded in this battle, losing an eye, and shot through the thigh, from the effects of which wound he is still disabled.

Sumnermann, R. R., private, Gen. Shelby’s command. He enlisted Oct, 1864 and was discharged in June, 1865.

Flournoy, W. H., private, Gen. Parson’s Brigade. Enlisted in spring 1862 and discharged June 1865.

Baber, Q. M., 2nd lieutenant, Co. A, 3rd Regiment Missouri Volunteers. Enlisted Dec 9, 1861 and discharged June 20, 1862. Fought at Pea Ridge and Farmington.

Renfro, Henry, private, Co. C, 3rd Missouri Regiment, Infantry. Enlisted Dec 10, 1861 and discharged June 26, 1865. Battles: Iuka, Corinth, Grand Gulf, Port Gibson, Big Black, Champion Hills, and Vicksburg. Wounded at Vicksburg, Mississippi, May 20, 1863. Taken prisoner at Springfield, MO February 12, 1862 and Vicksburg, July 4, 1863.

Montgomery, G. W., private, Capt. R. J. Williams’ Co., 1st Brigade. Enlisted in 1861 and discharged March 20, 1862. Fought at Springfield/Oak Hills, Dry Wood Creek, Lexington, Pea Ridge. Wounded at Pea Ridge, Arkansas, March 8, 1862 and taken prisoner on the road from Pea Ridge to Van Buren, Arkansas.

Parker, Wm. B., private, Gen. Price’s command, and a portion of the time served in the command of Kirby Smith. Enlisted June 1862 and discharged May 1865. Fought at Prairie Grove, Helena, Little Rock, Mansfield, Pleasant Hill, and Saline River.

Crithfield, Marion M., private, Co. H, col. Hindman’s regiment, 11th Missouri Inf. Co. H was commanded by Capt. John P. Dusenberry. Enlisted Oct. 1862 and was discharged in 1865. Battles: Prairie Grove, Pleasant Hill, Louisiana, Jenkin’s Ferry, and Helena. He was wounded both at Pleasant Hill and Louisiana though not severely. Was sick at Clarksville with a severe attack of the measles.

Davis, T. J., lieut., Gen. Price’s command. Enlisted in June 1861 and was discharged June 1865. Battles: Carthage, Oak Hill, Lexington, Elk Horn, Helena, Cane Hill, and Little Rock.

Davis, B. F., Captain, Gen. Price’s command. Enlisted in June 1861 and was discharged June 1865. Battles: Carthage, Oak Hill, Lexington, Elk Horn, Helena, Cane Hill, and Little Rock.

Lentz, N. A., private, Gen. Parson’s command. Enlisted June 1861 and discharged June 1865. Battles: Oak Hill, Elk Horn, Mansfield, and some other minor engagements. He was never wounded nor taken prisoner.

Thompson, A., private, Gen. Price’s Command. He was discharged in the fall of 1861. Battles: Carthage, Wilson’s Creek, and Dry Wood.

Duval, J. F., private, Co. C, 1st Missouri Brigade, 1st division. Enlisted June 1861 and discharged April 1865. Battles: Carthage, Wilson’s Creek, Lexington, Pea Ridge (in Missouri); Iuka, Corinth, Grand Gulf, Port Gibson, Champion Hills, Big Black, Vicksburg siege (in Mississippi); and in all battles in the Georgia campaign from Dalton to Atlanta. Not seriously wounded in any of these engagements. He was taken prisoner at Vicksburg; surrendered with 2nd Missouri battery, Captain James L. Farns commanding Gainsville, Alabama, April 20, 1865.

Quarles, W. M., lieutenant and ensign bearer. Enlisted May 10, 1861 and was discharged May 10, 1865. He was in the battles of Carthage, Lexington, Springfield, Pea Ridge, Corinth, Iuka, Vicksburg, on the 4th day of July, 1863; also taken prisoner at Fort Blakely, April 9, 1865. Never any serious wounds only slight ones.

Greenawalt, A. J., private, Gen. Sterling Price’s army. Enlisted in 1861 and take prisoner at Pea Ridge. He was exchanged at Vicksburg. He was wounded twice slightly.

Walker, F. J., private, Gen. Price’s army. Enlisted Dec 10, 1861 and was discharged May 4, 1865. Battles: Elk Horn, Corinth , Springfield, Corinth, Iuka, Baker’s Creek, Grand Gulf, Franklin, Tennessee, Farmington, campaign of Georgia, and other minor engagements. Wounded at Corinth, Mississippi, Oct 1862. Never taken prisoner.

Petty, Joel S., private, Co. D, 1st Missouri cavalry, under Capt. Parker, James Adams’ regiment, commanded by Col. Elijah Gates. Enlisted Dec 1861. Battles: Pea Ridge, Corinth, Mississippi, Iuka, second Corinth, Champion Hills, Big Black River. He was captured at the last battle and taken prisoner to Point Lookout, Maryland, where he was kept 8 and one-half months, when he took the oath of allegiance and returned home, then went to the plains for five years, tne returned to his native place, where he lives now.

Asbury, J. W., private, 3rd regiment Missouri Infantry Volunteers, commande by Col. Rives. He was discharged August, 1865. Battles: Pea Ridge, Corinth, Mansfield, Jenkins’ Ferry, Blackwater, Lexington, and Independence. He was taken prisoner at Baldwin, Mississippi, but not placed in any prison.

Shelton, Reuben, pvt. Co. G, 1st Missouri Vol. Inf. Enlisted Sept, 1861. He was in the Battles of Lexington and Pea Ridge, numerous skirmishes in Missouri and Arkansas. He was wounded at Pea Ridge, in the right shoulder, by a spent ball. He was taken prisoner near Springfield, MO, and took the oath of allegiance.

Wood, Toliver, pvt. Co C,26th Regiment, Tennessee Cavalry, commanded by Capt. E. Allen, Regiment by Col. J. M. Lillard. Enlisted in June, 1861. He was in the Battle of Chickamauga, numerous skirmishes in Tn. and Va.

Sisk, Bartlett, Corporal, Co. A, 3d Missouri Vol. Inf., commanded by Col. B.A. Rives. Enlisted Dec. 27, 1861. Battles include Pea Ridge, first and second Corinth, Iuka, Grand Gulf, Port Gibson, and numerous skirmishes in Arkansas and Mississipi. He was wounded in Port Gibson, May 1, 1863, losing his right arm just below the elbow. He was paroled at Grenada, Mississippi, after the surrender in May, 1865, and returned to Ray County in Oct, 1865.

Kilgore, J.O., pvt., Co. A, 2d Arkansas Vol. Cavalry, commanded by J. Phelps. Enlisted July, 1863 and discharged Nov. 17, 1865. He was in Price’s last raid in Missouri and Arkansas.

Burns, James, pvt. Co. A, 3d Regiment, Missouri Vol. Inf., Confederate Army. He was in the battles of Wilson’s Creek and Lone Jack, August 16, 1862. He lost his right arm at the battle of Wilson’s Creek, August 10, 1861. He was discharged in 1863.

Leake, Thomas J., pvt., 2d. Missouri light artillery, General Dick Taylor’s division. Enlisted Dec. 9, 1861, and was in the battles of Pea Ridge, Corinth, Mississippi; second battle of Corinth, Thompson Station, Dalton, Ga., Atlanta, Tennessee River, Elliott’s marine fleet, Jackson, Mississippi; Fort Pillow and numerous skirmishes. He surrendered at the close of the war.

Taylor, M.G., 2nd Lieutenant, Co. D, 1st Regiment, Missouri Inf. Enlisted in Dec. 1861 discharged June, 1862 in Mississippi. He was in the Battle of Pea Ridge.

Dorton, Edward T., pvt. and sergeant in Capt. James Hobb’s Co., Col. David McRea’s regiment, Confederate Army.He enlisted June 17, 1861, Co A, 15th Arkansas Inf.; after the surrender at Vicksburg, mounted infantry. He was in the battles of Wilson’s Creek, Pea Ridge, Iuka, and numerous skirmishes. He was captured at Iuka, and sent to Camp Douglas in Chicago. He was also captured at Walnut Grove, Arkansas, but escaped. He was discharged April 12, 1865.

Perdue, Henry C., pvt. Co. A, Colonel Reeves’ Regiment. Enlisted April, 1861 and discharged January, 1862. He fought at Carthage, July 5, 1861, and Wilson’s Creek August 10, 1861. He was captured and imprisoned in the jail at Lexington, Mo., and was paroled a few days afterwards.

Leforgee, M. S., pvt. Co. C, 2d Kentucky battalion, mounted rifles, under Colonel Tom Johnson, Confederate Army. He enlisted Sept., 1862 and was discharged May 3, 1865. He was in the battles of Louisa, Ky, Cave Gap, King’s Saltworks, Chicamauga, McMinnville, Tn; Anderson’s Cross Roads, Cumberland, Tn; Charleston, Mt. Sterling, Ky; Smithville, and in numerous skirmishes.

Elder, Thomas, Pvt. Co. C, 3d Missouri Inf., General Sterling Price’s army. Enlisted Nov., 1861. He was in the second battle of Corinth, Port Gibson, Baker’s Creek, Big Black, Vicksburg, in the campaign through Georgia, and at Johnson’s surrender. He was wounded in Kenesaw Mountain, June, 1864. He was taken prisoner at Springfield, MO, and was confined at Alton, Ill., about seven months and was exchanged at Vicksburg, August, 1863.

Riffe, Isaac M., orderly sergeant, Co. A, 4th Missouri Inf. Enlisted June, 1861 and was in the battles of Carthage, Dry Wood, Lexington, Pea Ridge, Wilson Creek, Corinth, first and second fight, and numerous skirmishes. He was wounded in the left hand at Pea Ridge, March 8, 1862, and was taken prisoner by Captain A. Allen, and released on parole. He forfeited his parole, and returned to the Confederate Army.

Long, Samuel H., pvt., Co. C, 3d regiment, 1st brigade, Missouri Inf., General Price’s Army. Enlisted Dec. 20th, 1861. He was in the battles of Elk Horn, Corinth, Magnolia Hills, Baker’s Creek, and Vicksburg. He was taken prisoner at Vicksburg, and soon after paroled.

Mulligan, Joseph Thomas, Pvt. Confederate Army. He enlisted in 1863, and was killed at the battle of Champion Hill, May 16, 1863.

Elder, Turner, Pvt., General Shelby’s command. He enlisted in the fall of 1862. He was in the battle of Mansfield and was wounded in that engagement. He was discharged when Price surrendered.

Parker, Newton J., Pvt. and sergeant, first under General Price, then General Vandorn, then General Pemberton. He enlisted in Sept., 1861, and was in the battles of Lexington, Pea Ridge, Farmington, Mississippi; Iuka, Mississippi; Corinth, Grand Gulf, Baker’s Creek, and Vicksburg. He was taken prisoner May 6, 1863, at Baker’s Creek, and was a prisoner eight months.

Elder, Martin, Pvt., co. C, 3d Missouri Inf., Gen. Price’s Army. He enlisted in Nov., 1861, and was in the battles of Corinth, Port Gibson, and Baker’s Creek. He was wounded and taken prisoner at Pea Ridge, in the spring of 1862, and paroled. He was taken prisoner again at Baker’s Creek and taken to Alton, Il., military prison. He was exchanged at Vicksburg, August, 1863.

Sanderson, William B., Pvt., Col. Reeves’ regiment, Missouri Cavalry, Gen. Price’s Army. He enlisted in 1861 and was discharged in 1863. He was in the battles of Lexington Sept. 1861 and Pea Ridge, March 8, 1862.

Rader, John, Pvt., Gen. Hindman’s command. Enlisted in the fall of 1862 and was discharged in Dec, 1862. He was in the battle of Prairie Grove where he took sick and was not able to re-enter the army.

Frazier, Stephen, Pvt., Gen. Price’s Army and was in most of the leading engagements. He enlisted in 1861 and was discharged in 1865. He was takin prisoner at Vicksburg, and was a prisoner for two months.

Keys, George W., Pvt. General Sterling Price’s Army. He enlisted in Springfield, Mo., in 1861 and was in the battle of Lexington, Mo., Sept, 1861. He was discharged in Dec., 1862.

McGuire, S.O., Pvt., Gen. Price’s Army. He enlisted in June, 1861 and was discharged in July, 1865. He was in the battles of Wilson’s Creek, Pea Ridge, Corinth, Iuka, Champion Hills, and Big Black river. He was taken prisoner at Big Black river about May 17, 1863.

Wright, L. B., Pvt., Gen. Price’s Army. He enlisted in Sept. 1861; was in the battles of Lexington, Sept., 1861, and was taken prisoner there and banished to Indiana until hostilities ceased.

Gaulden, John W., Pvt. Col. Henry’s Virginia Reserves. He enlisted in 1864 and was discharged in 1865.

Ewing, George S., Sergeant, Co. C, 3d, Missouri Inf. (Gen. Price’s Army). He enlisted in fall of 1861, and was discharged in the spring of 1865. He was in the battles of Corinth, Iuka, Vicksburg, Baker’s Creek, Georgia campaign, Franklin, Tn., and other engagements. He was wounded in the battle of Franklin, Tn., and slightly wounded at New Hope, Ga.

Searcy, Nathaniel D., Pvt. Co. A, Col. B.A. Reeves’ regiment. He enlisted in the summer of 1861. He was at the battles of Carthage and Wilson’s Creek, where he was killed, August 10, 1861.

Lewis, James L., Pvt., Co.H, commanded by Capt. Parker, Col. Reeves’ regiment, Slack’s Division, General Price’s brigade. He enlisted in 1861, and was discharged in 1864. He was at the battles of Lexington, Centralia, and Glasgow. He was captured in Columbia, Mo., in 1864, held 10 days and paroled.

Head, J. L., Pvt., Co. D, commanded by Captain John Castleman, 2d Kentucky regiment cavalry, commanded by Colonel Basil Duke, General Morgan’s command. He enlisted, June 1, 1862, at Chattanooga, Tn., for the war, and was discharged by surrender, at the close of the war. He was in the battles of Drainsville, Va.; Dan No. 1 at Yorktown, Peninsula, Williamsburg, Snow Hill, Tn.; Hartsville, Tn.; Gallatin, Tn.; Lebanon, Ky; Augusta and several other engagements of less note. He was taken prisoner at Springfield, Ky, on or about July 8, 1863, and held in prison at Camp Douglas, Il. And exchanged March 2, 1865. He was once previously captured in Ky, and held at Lexington, Ky, four weeks, in a slave jail, converted into a prison by the federals, from which he escaped.

Tompkins, William S., Pvt. Co. F, Col. B.A. Rive’s regiment, 4th division Missouri State Guards and Co. B, in the battalion commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel Robert J. Woods, C.S.A. He enlisted Aug. 10, 1861, and surrendered May 26, 1865, at Shreveport, La. He was in the battles of Oak Hills, Wilson’s Creek, Dry Wood, Lexington, Blue River, Westport, Maria des Cygnes and Newtonia. He was wounded Sept. 18, 1861, at Lexington, Mo. He was taken prisoner Nov. 18, 1861, by Capt. Forbes of Missouri Militia.

Baber, William, Pvt., Co. A, 3d inf., Missouri Vol., C.S.A. He enlisted Dec 7, 1861 and was discharged May 22, 1865. He was in the battles of Lexington, Mo., Pea Ridge, Mo., Port Gibson, Mississippi; Corinth, Iuka, Vicksburg, Mississippi; Atlanta, Ga; Franklin and Nashville, Tn; He was taken prisoner at Vicksburg, Ms.

Ross, John A., ordinance Sgt, co. A, commanded by Capt. David Boone, 1st battalion Missouri state guards, commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel John W. Payne, 8th division, commanded by General James S. Rains. He enlisted June 19, 1861, and re-enlisted June, 1863, and was discharged June 1863. He was in the battles of Dug Springs, Wilson’s Creek, Dry Wood, Lexington, Pea Ridge, Shiloh, and Farmington. He was the first to find General Lyon on the battle-field of Wilson’s Creek. At Farmington, Mississippi, in consequence of having to wade through swamps for a considerable length of time, his life was greatly endangered.

Schooler, Nathan H., Pvt. Co. C, commanded by Capt. Kelsey McDowell, in 3rd regiment, Missouri Inf. Volunteers, He enlisted at Springfield, Dec., 1861, and was discharged at Jackson, Ms, May 31, 1865. He was in the battles of Corinth, Farmington, Iuka, second battle of Corinth, and several other skirmishes. He was wounded at Corinth Oct. 4, 1862, and disabled for two years. He was taken prisoner at Springfield, and held two months. He was again taken prisoner at the battle of Corinth the time he was wounded. He was sick on two different times with fever on account of exposure in the said service.

Elliot, Arthur B., Pvt., Co. A, commanded by Capt. Robt. J. Williams, 3d Missouri Inf. Vols., He enlisted in 1861 and was discharged in 1865. He was in the battles of Pea Ridge, Corinth, Iuka, Kenesaw Mountain, Allatoona, Ga; Vicksburg, Franklin, Tn., Latimore farm or mills, Atlanta, Jonesboro, Baker Creek. First taken prisoner at Vicksburg, next on picket line was captured.

Burgess, John C., Pvt. Co. A, commanded by Capt. Newton, 1st Missouri Volunteers, Gen. Sterling Price. He enlisted in 1861 and was discharged the same year. He was in the battles of Springfield, Carthage, and Lexington.

Hale, Isaac H., Sgt., General Price’s Army. He enlisted June 16, 1861, and was discharged July 1, 1865. He was in the battles of Carthage, Wilson’s Creek, Lexington, Pea Ridge, Prairie Grove, Helena and Saline River, Arkansas.

Harrison, John L., Pvt., Co. A, 3d Missouri Inf. Volunteers, and also in the partisan rangers, 1st Mo Cavalry, Co. A. He enlisted Dec. 7, 1861, and was discharged from prison July, 1864. He was in the battles of Sugar Creek, Arkansas, Oct 17, 1862, Cotton Plant, Arkansas. While he was with the rangers he was in the Ozark fight and Gasconade fight. He was taken prisoner on the Gasconade river on the 30th day of July, 1862. He was held as a prisoner until June 30, 1864, when he was discharged from prison.

Brown, James Calvin, Pvt., Co. A, commanded by Robert J. Williams, 3d Missouri Inf. Volunteers. He enlisted Dec 7, 1861, and was killed at the siege of Vicksburg, May 22, 1863.

Suits, James Madison, Pvt., Co. E, commanded by Capt. Davidson, 1st Va. Battalion of Infantry. He enlisted May, 1863, and was discharged at Appomattox court house, April 9, 1865. He was in the battle of Petersburg, Va.; Hatcher’s Run, Va; Cold Harbor, Va, June 27, 1862, and other battles. He was made prisoner at the surrender at Appomattox court house, April 9, 1865, and paroled.

Baber, B. F., Pvt., Co. A, commanded by Capt. R. J. Williams, 3d Missouri regiment of Infantry, Missouri Volunteers, first Missouri Brigade. He enlisted Dec 9, 1861, and was discharged at the close of the war. He was in the battles of Lexington, Mo, Pea Ridge, Arkansas; Farmington, Mississippi; Iuka, Corinth, Grand Gulf, Port Gibson, Vicksburg, and in all the battles in front of Sherman in Ga, Allatoona, Resaca, Egypt Station, Blakely, Alabama, last battle of the war, April 1865. He was captured at Vicksburg the 4th of July, 1863, Blakely, Alabama, April 9, 1865.

Wilson, William H., Quantrell’s independent command, enlisted in 1862 and was discharged in 1863. He was in the battle of Lone Jack, in Jackson county, Mo, August 16, 1862.

Wasson, John A., Pvt., Co. G, 16th Mississippi volunteers. He enlisted in 1861, and was discharged in 1865, by surrender. He was in the battles of Front Royal, Va, Cross Keys, Va, seven days battle near Richmond, Va; Manassas Gap, Va; Gettysburg, Pa. He was twice captured, and held a prisoner a short time. He was wounded in the battle of Cross Keys, Va.

Chenault, A. R., Pvt., General Price’s Army. He enlisted in the summer of 1861 and was discharged in the fall of 1861. He was in the battles of Booneville, Carthage, Wilson’s Creek and Lexington.

Cox, William, Pvt., Co. D, Colonel Hughes’ regiment, General Price’s army, and afterward in the 1st Missouri brigade, company H, 3d regiment, Confederate infantry volunteers. He was in the battles of Carthage, Wilson’s Creek, Lexington, Kenesaw Mountain, Ga, and Atlanta, Ga, and several other engagements. He was taken prisoner twice; first in Saline county, by Pleasonton, and kept in St. Louis one month. He was next captured in Chariton county, Mo., and held eleven months in St. Louis, and then exchanged. He was paroled after the surrender.

Kite, Martin V., corporal, Co. H, commanded by Captain Rippatoe, in the 33d Virginia Volunteers, commanded by Colonel Cummings, in General Stonewall Jackson’s army. He enlisted at Lauray, Page county, Va, in 1861, and continued in service until the close of the war, and the surrender of Confederate troops. He was in the first battle of Manassas, and in a number of skirmishes while under Mosby. He was for some time in the hospital as a steward, at Lynchburg.

Gant, Thomas R., corporal, Co. C, 3d Missouri Inf. Volunteers. He enlisted February 23, 1862. He was in the battles of Elkhorn Taver, Arkansas, second battle of Corinth, Iuka, Grand Gulf, Hatrchie Bridge, Bigh Black, siege of Vicksburg, Mississippi; Atlanta, Allatoona, Kenesaw Mountain, Ga; and Franklin, Tn. He was taken prisoner at Franklin, Tn, and was released at the close of the war, at Camp Chase, Ohio.

Grant, Cyrus D., corporal, Co. C, 3rd Cavalry regiment. He enlisted Sept 1861, and re-enlisted Dec 1861, in co. C, 3rd Missouri Volunteer Inf, commanded by Col. B. A. Rives, Confederate service. He was in the battles of Lexington, Pea Ridge, Corinth, first and second; battles of Vicksburg, Grand Gulf, Black River Bridge, Peach Tree Creek, Kenesaw Mountain, Atlanta, through the campaign in Ga. in front of Sherman. He served under Johnson, Bragg, and Hood. He was wounded six times, principally flesh wounds. Was captured in the battle of Franklin. He was discharged at the close of the war.

Brooks, Thomas J., Pvt., James Johnson’s Co., State Guards, confederate service. He enlisted June, 1861 and was discharged Dec 2, 1861, and returned home. He was in the battle of Lexington.
