GOBIN, GOBUM, JENNINGS, PETTY posted by Randy Bridges on Friday, June 5, 1998

GOBIN, JENNINGS, PETTY My gg-grandmother was Lovie Jane GOBIN, who was born 20 Sep 1848 in Missouri, married James Andy PETTY 18 Mar 1869 in Clinton County, Missouri, died 18 Dec 1922. Their son Rudolph M. PETTY, my great-grandfather, was born 26 Sep 1873 in Ray County, and eventually relocated to the Dade/Cedar County area of southwestern Missouri. I noticed in the 1850 Ray County census posted in the Ray County GenWeb archives that a Jane GOBUM, age 2, is listed with the family of Sirenius JENNINGS, along with Parmelia GOBUM, age 25. In a query posted by Wanda Wedge Greathouse in September 1997, there was the mention of Cyrenus JENNINGS and his daughter Parmelia "Millie", whose first husband was Milton GOBIN. (I have tried to reach Wanda, but am unable to contact her at the e-mail address posted with her query. If you're out there, Wanda, please contact me.) If the possibility of some minor spelling differences is taken into consideration, which is entirely possible with old census data, I believe that this Jane GOBUM may be my Lovie Jane GOBIN. If anyone has any information which would confirm or disprove this theory, please contact me. This is my first possible clue as to Lovie Jane's parents. Thanks!! Thanks, Randy Bridges Mandeville, LA rlb2024@bellsouth.net

He married Bertha Branson (about 1910 or 1911) they had three children born in Hardin Mo. Marvin 1912, Mildred 1915, and maybe Mary Francis 1916. They moved to Lyons Rice Kansas, about 1916, then another daughter was born there Gladys 1917. William Branson left the family about 1917 and moved from Lyons never to be heard from again. It is believed he returned to Ray county Mo. In Lyons Kansas it is thought he worked at an ice plant. All family members who would have knowledge of William are deceased.
