QRYTEXT:I am searching for information on the DOTY, SEWARD, and GREEN families who lived in and around Ray County in the 1870's. James DOTY married Harriet SEWARD in November 1871 by a minister of the M.E. Church South at the home of Harriet's father Joseph SEWARD in Ray County. They had a son and a daughter (names unknown) before his death in 1875-76. I would like to find the names of those children, and where James is buried. Am searching for the maiden name of Nancy Ann GREEN (born 1810-1812 in KY), who married Moses DOTY in 1846 in Jackson County. GREEN was not Nancy Ann's maiden name--it was the name of her previous husband. She married GREEN probably between 1825-1832, and they had children. In 1870, (after Moses death and her DOTY children were grown) Nancy (listed as Ann DOTY) lived with her son John GREEN (b. 1832 in MO) in Ray County. It appears his wife had died and she was helping him raise his children. I would like to find out the name of Nancy Ann's GREEN husband, so that I can find out her maiden name. I would also like to correspond with descendants of her GREEN children. (I am a descendant of one of her DOTY children.)

QRYTEXT:I am trying to help a family here in Dade County, Mo., try to locate the descendants of Lousia Alice HAMPTON Watson Davis who may have ended up in Ray County, Mo. What I'm doing is checking all the counties around where Lousia was last located. Lousia Alice HAMPTON was the daughter of John H. and Susannah Johnston HAMPTON. She was born ca 1850 in Dade County, Missouri. She married John Morgan WATSON exact date is unknown but is believed to be before 1871, they had one son Charlie A. WATSON born February 15, 1871 and died October 9, 1874 buried in Wetzel Cemetery, Dade County, Mo. They were still married in 1880, but they do not show up again in our census after 1880. The last time she shows up in Louisa Alice up in any of our records is in her sister obit. dated 1918. At this time her last name is listed as DAVIS and she is living in Sparks a subdivison of Moberly, Missouri. I thought the best thing to do is check the counties around Moberly, I'm very familiar with Ray County, so I know that Ray is near by, and that it is a farming area, just as Dade County, so I thought the family might have picked a county such as Ray as it is so much like their home county of Dade.

QRYTEXT:I'm looking for information on George A. MADDEN who was b. 1856, d. 1943, and is buried in Lawson, Ray County, Mo. I believe that he maybe be the older brother of my Great Grandfather Charles A. MADDEN, according to the family Charles stated that he did have a brother George that he lost track of after George left home. If George is his brother his parents would have been William and Mary Ann Clark MADDEN, who was born in Ohio. George would have poss. been born in Ill., as was the first two children, there would have been at least one more brother Tom who was born abt. 1855, and two sisters both born in Ill., Sarah, (Sally) b. 1845, and Jane b. 1847, then the younger girls and Charles was all born in the 1860's, Tressa Lee, Ann (who died at abt. age 14), Maggie, then Charles b. June 1865. In about 1886 Sarah(Sally) and her children left the Chariton Co. area and headed to Dade County along with Charles that we assumed was somewhere in this area also. Jane also came to Dade County, but don't have the date, however, her and her husband John PORTERFIELD and family do not show up until the 1900 Dade County, Missouri Census. In 1870 I found Sarah(Sally) and her first husband William JENNINGS, and two oldest children in the Chariton County Census, her brother Tom was living with her at the time. However I could not find any of the other family in this census record. I have tried check the Saline County Census records before and after the birth year for Charles as it say he was born in that county. My Grandmother thought that her Aunt Tressa LEE used to spent the summers in Ray County, Mo around what is now the Sunshine Lake, near Hennrietta, Mo. Subsequently had 9 children, including my great grandfather John Jackson WINNINGHAM born Ray County 29 Aug 1837. Mary died 1848. From that date, there is no trace of John WINNINGHAM. Living in Ray County at the same time was William Sharp WINNINGHAM, and his wife Malinda MILLER. I strongly believe that William is related to John WINNINGHAM, probably a brother. William and his wife had 8 children, and at least one, Mary Jane WINNINGHAM was born in Ray County, 1 Jan 1840. William Sharp WINNINGHAM and his family moved to Harrison County shortly after 1840, settling in the Bethany area. If anyone has any information from marriage records, church records, land or probate records, birth information, or cemetery information on either John WINNINGHAM or William Sharp WINNINGHAM, I would be eager to hear from you.

QRYTEXT:Seeking information of John and Mary (Polly) WINNINGHAM. They had 9 children in Missouri, including John Jackson WINNINGHAM, born 1837, my great grandfather. The family traveled about a number of counties in Missouri, but while there are suggestions of the children being present in Missouri, the parents essentially disappeared. One source, maybe unreliable, shows John WINNINGHAM died in 1861 in Missouri. The same source lists wife Mary as dying in 1848 in Missouri. While all the children were Missouri born, there is no record in any census that the parents were ever enumerated. During this timeframe, William Sharp Winningham (1815-1850) and wife Malinda were in Ray County, and their daughter Mary Jane WINNINGHAM (WININGHAM) was born in 1840. They had 8 children, and probably 3 were born in Ray County. Shortly after 1840, William Sharp and his family moved to Harrison County. I believe John and William Sharp were kin, probably brothers. I am seeking information on any WINNINGHAM members.
