J.S. HOLMAN was born circa 1845 in Missouri. His parents were both born in Tennessee. M.A. WILLIAMS HOLMAN was born circa 1857 in Missouri. Her parents were both born in North Carolina. QRYTEXT:I found information about Morton in the History of Ray County, MO 1881 book.  Found information on my ancestor, W. P. SHAW (i.e., William Pinckney SHAW) who was said to have built the first house there.  W. P. Shaw was born 24 Jul 1823 in Fairfield, Tennessee.  His family was headed West for the gold rush and they ended up staying in Missouri, in Morton.  He married Julia A. WATERMAN who had come from New York to teach school.  She was born in Perrysburg, Cattaraugus, NY.  She died 14 Dec. 1875 in Brownsville (now Sweet Springs), MO.  W. P.Shaw died 19 May 1895 in Sweet Springs, MO.  Both are buried at the Fairfield Cemetery in Sweet Springs, MO.

QRYTEXT:Am searching for any information on William F. ROLSTON (RALSTON).  He was born in Hart County, Kentucky, Oct 16, 1825.  He was in the Mexican War and afterwards migrated to Ray County, Missouri.  He is listed in the 1850 census of Ray County married to Rebecca (RENFRO).  There is then a marriage record for him in 1852 to Aisley (Alice) GILPIN.  They are in the Grape Grove Township census for 1860.  Cannot find them in the 1870 census.  He was supposed to be in Johnson County then and also serving in the state legislature.  I am desperately searching for any documentation proving where he came from and in particular who his parents are.

QRYTEXT:Attempting to located Hickory Grove Cemetery in Ray County, supposedly near Richmond. On 15 March 1887 Charley D. Braden, age 6 years was buried there. He was the sone of Andrew Jackson Braden and wife Feriba Jane CAMPBELL. Not long after the death of Charley the family moved to Utica, Mo. in Livingston Co. Apparently Andrew and Feriba came to the Richmond area from KY. because Andrew had a newphew living there named George Braden.

I noticed in the 1850 Ray County census posted in the Ray County GenWeb archives that a Jane GOBUM, age 2, is listed with the family of Sirenius JENNINGS, along with Parmelia GOBUM, age 25. In a query posted by Wanda Wedge Greathouse in September 1997, there was the mention of Cyrenus JENNINGS and his daughter Parmelia "Millie", whose first husband was Milton GOBIN. (I have tried to reach Wanda, but am unable to contact her at the e-mail address posted with her query. If you're out there, Wanda, please contact me.) If the possibility of some minor spelling differences is taken into consideration, which is entirely possible with old census data, I believe that this Jane GOBUM may be my Lovie Jane GOBIN. I'm making a guess but I believe this may be the same Thomas BRYANT (or MCBRYANT) that married a Katie HUGHES in 1895 in the county, Maggie's sister. I can find Thomas in the 1900, 1910 and, I believe, the 1920 census. Their children were Della (from the first marriage?) and Bessie M.. Would appreciate any information on this family. Jacob second married Mrs. Betheny COX in Ray Co. After Jacob died, his 11-year-old son John A. Baer returned to Indiana to live with relatives. He is my g-grandfather. Am seeking descendants or info on siblings and 2 cousins listed on 1850 census of household: brother William T. BAER b abt 1838; sister Sarah E. BAER, b abt 1845; baby sister Laura J BAER born May 1850 believed to have died an infant; orphaned cousins William TRINDLE, b abt 1834, and Alexander Trindle, b abt 1852. Joseph Evans BALL was born ?/?/1824 to Joseph Hunter BALL B:1768 and Phebe SLAUGHTER B1/7/1789. My Grandmother, Ida Damaris (BALL) Bowman died June 8, 1950 in Springfield, MO. She is buried at Mt. Washington Cemetery in Kansas City, MO. Joseph Evans BALL was reportedly a minister of music with the Methodist Church and was elected coroner of Ray County but died before taking office.

QRYTEXT: I am working on my husbands family history. His great gandparents lived in GrapeGrove township Ray County, Missouri.  His Great Grandma is Ellen Bolinger BRYAN.  I have been told that there was a tornado in 1880 or there abouts.  Hit their house she fell beak hitting her head on the stove causing her injuries which she died from. She is buried at new Hope Church yard.  I am wanting to obtain her death certificate. Any information would be appreciated.
